Foreword
I’ve gathered favorite family recipes into this scrapbook for two reasons. First, to commemorate the tradition of good home-cooking that abounds in our extended family, but also to help my children, Michael and Alisha, easily recreate the foods they loved growing up.
The effort is dedicated to my Mother, Hilda Wood Cox, who passed on more cooking knowledge to me than I ever realized before starting this project, and to my Mother-in-law, Betty Vance Justice, who has faithfully recorded and shared the recipes her family cherishes, making the task at hand much easier.
The primary sources I used are Betty and Mother’s personal recipe collections, but I’ve also included favorites from other family members. Since all of these recipes have become synonymous to us with the family members who prepare them, I’ve renamed many to include the family cook’s name. My intention is not to claim all of these recipes as original, but to help my family remember and honor our combined culinary history.

We have expanded on this collection of recipes to add our own family favorites and have collected more from Vicki to be able to include the favorites from the Chaney household as well. We wanted to be able to provide everyone in the family this collection so that we may all reminisce together and be equipped to serve others what our family has been enjoying as favorites for years.
We love you all, Mike and Kristi Justice
